Devil’s Botany Absinthe Experience

Step inside the UK’s first absinthe distillery for cocktails, ritual and a behind-the-scenes tour of Absinthes modern home in East London.

Cocktails, ritual and the Green Fairy — inside the UK’s first dedicated absinthe distillery.

Step inside Devil’s Botany Distillery in East London for an guided absinthe experience hosted by the same team behind cocktail bars The Absinthe Parlour and The Natural Philosopher in East London.

Your afternoon begins with a Devil’s Botany Absinthe Martini, a crisp and aromatic cocktail showcasing how absinthe shines in modern mixology.

Next, you’ll take part in the traditional absinthe ritual. Using the classic fountain and absinthe spoon and sugar cube, chilled water slowly drips into Devil’s Botany Absinthe Regalis, releasing its layered aromas of wormwood, anise and warming spice.

After the ritual, we take a quick look-around of the distillery, where you’ll learn about the botanicals, production techniques and history behind one of the world’s most infamous spirits.

Finally, we return to the bar to enjoy a pour of our Chocolate Absinthe Liqueur, a decadent combination of rich cacao, peppermint and absinthe botanicals.

Guests are then invited to sample any additional Devil’s Botany spirit of their choice, with the opportunity to purchase bottles directly from the distillery.

A unique East London experience blending distillation, cocktail craft and absinthe ritual.

Absinthe is a botanical spirit distilled with grand wormwood, green anise and fennel seed, also known as the holy trinity of absinthe. In addition to these three, each distiller can use their own blend of botanicals to achieve the unique flavour profile they are after. Traditional absinthe is a spirit, not a liqueur. No sugar should be added when bottled. All distilled absinthes start clear. In order to create a green style of absinthe, this distillate is then infused with a new mix of botanicals to get its natural colour from the chlorophyll.

Absinthe was banned for nearly a century in many countries around the world. It is the only spirit ever singled out in a prohibition of this kind. It was never made illegal in the UK, which meant that many of the great classic cocktails to come from Britain during the 1920s and 30s called for absinthe in their recipes. Modern science finally caught up and disproved the 19th century theories that originally had it banned and regulations were changed around the world to finally make absinthe legal again.

Absinthe is not and never was hallucinogenic.

Devil's Botany Distillery

Devil’s Botany will not make you hallucinate, lose your mind, or see fairies. But make no mistake - our absinthes are here to kill off bad myths that have haunted this spirit for over a century.

From our East London distillery, we make absinthe the way it should be: bold, flavour-forward, and devilishly good to drink. As the UK’s first dedicated absinthe distillery, we’re bringing a famously misunderstood spirit back to life for a new generation of absinthe drinkers.
